Night Light

'Night Light' 24x24" oil on canvas; Kathleen Faulkner

It is winter now, and the nights are long.
The darkness sometimes feels like a way to escape the business of living, moving, bustling.
I do my most focused work in the early morning.
still so dark
Maybe the darkest bit of the long night.

Night Life

'Night Flight' 10x10" oil pastel and oil on panel;
Kathleen Faulkner

Spending time on water can sometimes
change my view of reality.

It is a different world.

Add nighttime, and it becomes surreal.

Art Handlers arrive to pack and transport.

This morning they are returned.

They have seen things and been somewhere
I never will see or be.

I'm glad they're home,
old friends.

'Marine, West Coast' 24x30" oil on canvas; Kathleen Faulkner

Perry and Carlson Gallery is transitioning into Artist representation.

The grand opening of this event is April 6, 2024, 2-5pm.

There will be a group show in one gallery

and a solo in the main.

I am so pleased to be the solo for this opening.

'Time Travels'

This body of work is about my life in the Skagit.

I have lived here now for over forty years.

All the work that I do reflects this.

icing on the Christmas cake

The catalogue of the Art in Embassies Exhibition in
Pristina, Kosovo,
arrived just before Christmas.
These works will be on loan for two or three years
depending on the Ambassador's term.

I was thanked for serving my Country.
I had never thought of it that way.

I'm feeling Patriotic.

giving is good

'Respite' 30x40" oil on canvas; Kathleen Faulkner

'Respite' is my donation to the 2023 Museum of Northwest Art Auction.

Someone said, 'awfully nice to give away..'

Good and Thank You!
I am happy to give to a museum
that has and continues to
enhance my life.

Some artists don't want to donate
as it is a hardship. I understand that.

For myself, I can donate art and leave helpful checks to the wealthy.
You can help by bidding on fabulous artwork

Cheers to our museum that touches us all in a multitude of ways,
And Cheers to this years Art Auction!

Line of sight

The thing about being on the water
is that one can usually see distance

probably the same idea on a mountain top

not so in fog
but most interesting in heavy weather

Near here

'Sanctuary' 16x40" oil on canvas;  Kathleen Faulkner

I was born and raised in the city.
noise, people, traffic...

Now I live where I can walk to quiet,
or listen to the geese
where it is empty of crowds
and roadless.
