cure-all

'Wonder Drug" 24x30" oil pastel on panel; Kathleen Faulkner

I grew up in the city
but we spent a lot of time
in the wilderness.

I could wander off.

I always felt safe
and I always felt better afterwards.

These days,
it's better to wander off
with a buddy.

If trees could talk

'Family Tree" (I & II) 24x24 / 24x20" oil pastel;
Kathleen Faulkner

I don't have to go far
to see the natural history
around here.

deep in it

'Northwest is Best'  16x20" oil pastel on panel;  Kathleen Faulkner

These are dark times.

I look out to the west
dark clouds have lifted over the Olympics

To the east, the North Cascades shine
  beneath the dark, brooding sky

  It brings to mind a line from a poem, as it often does,

and  'I am blinded by it's splendor'.*

The Sky's the Limit

'Skyworld' brooch, 3x4" sterling silver, moonstones;
Kathleen Faulkner

Early morning
sun coming up over the Cascades
another beautiful day here on the Salish Sea.
This is the time of year when things change.

A substantial shift is taking place in my world.

It is good to know that things change.  It is good to make them happen.
